Food Ledger Day 1

4:00 am – Breakfast
Slim Fast: Chocolate Royal made with 1 cup fat free milk. 200 calories.

6:30 am – soda
Diet A&W Root Beer (yes, yes, I know, weird morning drink). 0 calories.

7:30 am
Took salad dressing out of fridge (zesty Italian, home made with olive oil, so needs to come to room temperature before it can be poured). Once it has warmed up I’ll have a snack of a basic salad. Also loaded and running dishwasher since I was up to get the dressing out. (Finished root beer at 7:40am)

8:00 am
Salad made with about a cup and a half of shredded leaf lettuce, a teaspoon bacon bits, and about a teaspoon of Zesty Italian dressing, just enough to add a bit of flavor. Roughly 65 calories.

8:30 am
Arrrgh. Munchies. Got a glass of water to help stave them off. – Water works. Half hour later and munchies were staved off. Need more water. Quilting helps too. Break for working on a quilt means I can’t munch on stuff. Made it to 9 am with no munching.

9:30 am
Making popcorn to cure munchies I have from having breakfast at 4 am.

9:40 am
12 cups popped popcorn with Parkey zero cal spray and Johnny popcorn salt on it. About 366 calories.

Slept most of the day away – was very fat behind on rest.

2:am

Updates for health

I have decided that I need to try a LOT harder to keep my dietary intake on an even level, so I am going to start updating this site with my daily intakes using the program CRON-O-Meter to keep accurate track of my intake.

I am also going to update my exercise and physical activities.

Happy Valentine’s Day

victorian-womanWishing you a very happy Valentine’s Day, whether you are in a relationship and looking forward to an evening of romance, or are one of many singles this year that will be taking advantage of a day made for self indulgence and pampering yourself like you never take the time for throughout the rest of the year.

Today is the day when all of us singles should take a few hours to indulge our desire to be pampered. To give ourselves an excuse to relax and not stress. To soak in a hot tub with candles and aromatherapy. Prepare our favorite meal and put on a movie that we adore.

This is the day when we might treat ourselves to a new soft bathrobe or comfortable pajamas. Indulge in a home perm. Maybe have a girls night out with friends that will end in a slumber party and a night of games and pampering reminiscent of our teen years.

Portion Control Tip

Okay, it is nearly Halloween and most dieters are looking at those rows of candy and cringing. It is a sugar stocked danger zone that appears in every store at this time of year.

What if you could harness that overabundance of sweets to work in your favor?

Look at those bags of small candy bars and don’t think of how you could go through the entire bag in one evening. Look at them and think of how you could ration yourself out a few candy bars a month to help you evade those sweet attacks without having an entire candy bar unwrapped and beckoning to you.

Selections such as the small Hershey’s bars are perfect, since they can be kept for a very long time stored away in the back shelf of the pantry and doled out a few at a time throughout the year.

For pennies on the dollar you can have a low calorie alternative to the full-sized candy bars you would normally buy throughout the year. And if you normally purchase the small candy bars anyway, look at the savings. A bag that costs nearly $5 throughout the year is only $3 before Halloween and often as low as twenty-five cents or even a nickle a bag after Halloween.

So at a bag a month, you could pay $60 throughout the year at $5 a bag, or, just after Halloween, if you can catch the candy on sale at even fifty cents a bag, you are paying only $6. That is a savings of $54 in your year’s candy stash. Even if you have to spend a dollar a bag, you still save $48 in the course of a year.

So, the next time you see those carts filled with discounted candy don’t cringe, instead see them as a practice in self control and pick up some low calorie weapons in the battle against sweet attacks. Tuck a few in a jar for the month ahead, and stash the rest out of sight and out of mind in the back of the pantry.

Baking a cake

I’m baking a cake today. Yes, I know, bad thing to do when on a diet, but c’mon. It is not entirely what you eat, it is also knowing what to eat in moderation. Right? To deny ourselves of stuff like cake and other sweets is not exactly reasonable, the key is to consume such things only in moderate amounts.

Now if I can just avoid stress until the cake is no longer in the house, I should be fine.
