Did you ever have one of them weeks?

You know the kind I am talking about, you just sort of wonder if dieting is really worth the effort. I mean, seriously, it does not seem like trying to fit exercise and starvation into the day is worth the hassle. Give me a damn bag of potato chips and a box of snack cakes and don’t you dare try to say I can’t have my chocolate milk fix! It is that time in the diet when the need to hunker down in front of the fridge with a quart of Ben N Jerry’s outweighs the desire to hunker down in front of the TV and do crunches along with the skinny butted perky “I love exercising!” demon that has been egging you on.
I’m not sure what triggers it exactly. It is just a feeling of “Why am I doing this to myself? I like me, why can’t I just be me with a nice tasty sweet roll?” I guess the only true consolation is that the pendulum will swing back the other direction (if you’re like me that is ten seconds after the last bite of guilty pleasure) and you will be ready to get back on your diet (tomorrow) and start exercising once again (okay, next week for certain). It is all a matter of making it through the “Why bother!??!” phase with as little damage to your diet as you can manage, then get right back in there and back to the diet and exercise.
And lets face it, a little indulgence is not bad for you, what is bad for you is letting that little moment of weakness give you an excuse to stop your diet permanently. Take what battles you can win, and know when to let the “why bother?” out of the footlocker to have a taste of your favorite things – in moderation.
